Sorry I posted twice - my first one got lost and now they've both appeared.
If you don't have Coop or Barclays basic account then I would open one. It is almost certain that any other account will be closed. Also before BR date make sure you have taken out all your money (unless a direct debit is due to go out in that case leave just enough for that) you can always put the money back in a few days later. Be sure you tell the OR you opened the account for post bankruptcy and that it has no credit facilities. If you happen to live in Brighton then wait until after BR to open your new account.

I bank with halifax0

Is it easy to open another bank account - it looks like I need to do this asap otherwise I won't be able to get any money out from my wages for food etc.,0

If I can stay in the house and I carry on paying the mortgage until such time comes where I can get somewhere rented i.e. housing associaiton etc., what happens then with regards to the house - do I just hand the keys back to Mortgage Broker!!!!0

Get on to the Co-op in the morning and get a cashminder account set up PDQ and change everything over. Halifax are the most un bankrupt bank there is and will close your account even before the OR tells them you are bankrupt.
If you can't get the new account set up before you are bankrupt then remove every penny from the Halifax before you petition.Namaste DeeDee x0 -
Do get one ASAP, Halifax will close your account within a day or so of you going BR, they go through the London Gazette looking for customers who have gone BR (what a fulfilling job that must be:rolleyes: )
You can open the Co-op or Barclays account now so it's all ready for the day you go BR.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

If you want to do a voluntary reposession then stop paying the mortgage and save for a deposit for a rental property then inform the mortgage lender you wish to do a VR when you have moved.
If/when you want to do this at a later date come back here and we will guide you through it.Namaste DeeDee x0 -
thanks for that help with regards to the bank - I thought I would be ok with Halifax but am now going to ring the Co-op up tomorrow and set up a bank - so glad I asked this question.
Will definetely get back to you regarding the voluntary repossession should I decide at a later date to do that - at the moment I am just giving myself breathing space as this has been a nightmare never thought I could live with going BR but I can sense the relief I am going to feel once it has been done and thanks a million to everybody for making me feel a little better0 -

:rotfl: lol i should think they are the bank that is/was closest to being BR! :rotfl:
deedee is right though! they will close your account quicker than you can blink. you should get all of your money out asap! it is not safe there after BR.BSC #215/No.1 Jan 09 Club0 -
thanks for that will make sure I get my money out before Monday - will not cause a problem with OR if they see that I have taken monies out just before BR - I am not talking about loads of money just my wages which will be about 250.00?0
