I would charge full rate if childminded children were on holiday or ill. However, I do not charge if I am on holiday. I am currently trying to work out the Easter hols with my lots of parents to make sure it works for all - I don't want one set off one week and the other set off the other. By co-ordinating it, we all get to have a week off
  • Childminders are not able to increase their working hours the way other self employed workers can. They can't decide to work more hours (overtime) to cover not being paid for holidays nor can they take on more children during their normal working day to earn extra cash.
