Can you help, please! I tried Martins advice for the call checker and decided to try 1p call , but when I dialled the number it said I`d dialled an invalid international code. When I looked again at Martins advice in one place it says you need 00 44 and further down it says just 44. I tried both but got same answer. Do I need to pause after I dial the 0871 number before I dial the international code and again before the mobile number, I just dialled all the numbers together, is that wrong. also I left out the 0 at the beginning of the mobile number, is that right? Sorry to be such a dumbo!

Welcome to the MSE forums rytons.
The way to use the gateway providers it to dial the 0871 gateway number and wait for the automatic announcement to start. Normally, you then have to dial the 11 digits of the UK mobile number (07- - - etc) and some ask you to dial a # at the end. It's usually best to listen to the full announcement the first time you use a particular gateway number so you know their requirements.
MSE UK CallcheckerTime has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
