Why is flash memory not more widely used in PCs?

Very true, but only gamers but raptor drives. a few month ago the SSD's were double that of a raptor £/GB
The popularity of netbooks is helping the technology develop as more are getting used if people see the performance and power saveign as a benefit over the capacity of the drive. It is the reason I want to get an eeepc 901 just becasue it uses an SSD0 -
Non volatile memory such as Flash memory is widely used in USB pen drives, mp3 players etc and is now quite cheap per gb.
Why is it not more widely used in laptops and desktops?
Cost and capacity. At the most, they're now at 128GB. You can buy a 1TB HDD for £60 making 1GB of hard drive storage space 6 pence. A 1GB USB pen drive costs 15 times that. In addition to that, the cost per GB of SSD drive storage doesn't scale anywhere near the same as mechanical hard drives.Conor
