Is this a viable option? Propagator lids seemed really expensive, and I remember my grandfather using cling film when I was a wee boy, so I just bought the trays and insets lol
I've got the seed trays sitting on my window sill just now covered with "freezer" bags.

Just about any clear plastic bag will do as long as it can keep the heat and moisture in0

Last year I used propagator lids, cling film, clear plastic bags and whitish plastic bags to start of all my seeds.
I also used a propagator, small plant pots, yogurt pots and fruit trays - peach/nectarine/grape and blueberry to sow seeds in.I'm not cynical I'm realistic
(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)0 -
I use the "free" plastic bags you put veg in at supermarkets, no problems, plus they are perforated, so do allow some air circulationWhen an eel bites your bum, that's a Moray0
