Official Receiver Interview (Brighton)

Hello There,

I had my OR interview yesterday by telephone. Although I felt the same stressed feeling as I felt before going to court. It was really ok. The interview lasted an hour, with alot of probing questions as to why I got into debt etc (I guess as far as what is asked, it depends on the situation and the OR) He was a reallly nice chap, I think I did feel a little pressured but then we were talking about something that I felt ashamed of and of course there are some must ask questions. I am still alive :).

We left the conversation with him asking for my landlords address so he could write to him and ask him to send my contract to the OR offices. He said he would contact me within a month to inform me if I will have an IPA (not sure if they can tell you at this point if it is to be an IPA or a BRO??). I know I will get one as right now I am lucky enough to have a bit of excess each month after my outgoings.

Of course I will update once I hear from the OR again.

Good luck everyone! There certainly DOES appear to be a light at the end of the tunnel ! :)

Well done Jakjo, glad it went ok for you. I'm under the OR in Brighton (that sounds bad :o ) and they seem to be quite a reasonable office, although I think they are very busy as a bit slow responding to queries.

I ma finding the opposite, they have been very quick with me :( which worries me a bit. My OR does sound very young and he has applied to freeze and cancel my co-op account!! after they take £148.

Well done you too Gentry! :) When did you go bankrupt??

I went in June 2008. Initially they were very quick, but as time has gone by they have slowed down - awaiting a response to a IPA question since before Christmas. Mine is FJ (male) although my interview was with a woman.

They did make me close my Co-op accounts that we had opened pre-BR (the only OR to do so according to most of the people on here  ) But saying that, the Co-op were really good at letting us open another one.

    Hello Merry,

May I ask you how quick they were to implement your IPA?

My nil tax code was implemented in October 2008, by which time I had already heard from Moon Beever and set up my DD. I'm arguing against it at the moment as my housing benefit has been cut because of the nil tax code - the OR doesn't know how to deal with it, so at the moment I'm not paying it

Wow! it took 3 months! Well I guess the ball is in their court now, maybe take the opportunity to save a bit :) I mean what can they do? If they don't know they can't claw back the money can they?

    Thanks Merry

Glad it went well for you. Now we know it wasn't just Merry and problems with her Coop account - its the Brighton OR's office. Someone should speak to them!!!

  • Hi all
Interesting to read all your posts, i'm new on hear. I to have had dealings with th 'OR' at Brighton. I would be happy to give some advice to people about getting annulment and the process and how much it has cost me if any one wants. The process has been harrowing but i hevs managed to hold on to all my stuff and accounts and everything, just don't sign the form at the bottom presented to you at the end of the interview as it says 'signed the bankrupt' and if you believe you are not or should not have been made bankrupt then why should you sign it. Bankruptcy is the easier option but if you can Annulment is the better way.

    Kind regards to all

    Martin
