Webpage not loading/blank page

I've recently given my dad my old computer, he has O2 mobile broadband on it. He seems to be getting a lot of blank pages, as in the page says done but the screen is blank and he has to either press F5 to refresh or press the back button.

I get this screen very occassionally but he is getting it loads. It's such a shame because he is a complete novice with computers and it's making it all so hard for him.

Does anybody know why he'd be getting this? And how we could stop it? I'm wondering if it's O2's fault because I never got it that much when I had the computer and I was with BT.

Thanks in advance :)

Can you access any normal website or do you have to refresh to make the page load up after the first time? It could be due to O2 having a dodgy connection, or I'd recommend doing a scan on your computer to make sure there are no virus'/trojans/malware etc.
  • Does your O2 mobile broadband have a good connection? Try use firefox download@ https://www.mozilla.org see if it makes a difference.

If you wanna go deeper, try to search tcpwindowsize and mtu settings, but that's for the IT pros, if I were you I'd return the O2 USB and try another network.

He already uses Firefox. Sometimes the page loads fine, sometimes the blank pages comes up, it happens on all the websites he goes on too, not just certain ones.

The broadband signal is usually strong and it is quite fast, he can connect easily enough etc but it's just this one problem. He can't send it back though, he's on a contract.

I'll have to pop round and run a scan for him, couldn't ask him to do it himself, I have to talk him through sending an email :rotfl:

I'll google it some more as well, i'm pretty handy with a computer if i've got instructions so i'll see if I can sort it out :D
