Abbey National Regular Saver

Last October I applied for an Abbey National Regular Saver by handing in an application form in a branch. I was told by a cashier that it was ok and he took photocopies of my id, and said I would receive the account details shortly.
A couple of weeks later I still hadn't received any details or paperwork so I rang customer services, but couldn't understand a single word the advisor said.
Another week or so later I still hadn't received any paperwork so I rang again, again the advisor wasn't particularly helpful, but I did manage to get an account number from them, in order to set up a standing order.
By the end of November, when I still hadn't received any account paperwork or confirmation of account number, I sent a letter to Abbey requesting the information.
Today I received a letter back from them asking me to tell them what paperwork I was expecting?
Could anyone with such an account tell me what paperwork or passbook I should have received?

Is this the Fixed Rate Monthly saver? If so then you so should have a passbook (red). The account has been open since October and has had no money paid into it i presume. Im not 100% certain on this but in effect you have not made the required monthly standing order so you might not get the higher rate. If i were you id double check with your branch if this is the case or not.0

Indeed you are not forced to have a passbook and yes if opened in branch you will get a passbook which some people like to have. If you are setting up standing order you from another bank you will need to give them sort code 090000 and account number 00050005 as well as the FRMS account number.0

Thanks guys, I don't know why they couldn't have told me that - that there'd been a passbook waiting for me in the branch for the last 3 months!
I'll have to go in and get it for peace of mind, and to check that the account number given over the phone is the correct one.
If I hadn't rung them up about it I'd still be waiting for the account details now.0
