Help!! I've had my dell dimension 2 weeks and tried burning my first cd today. After a lot of 'clonking' the drive opened and my disc was stuck half in half out
Now it's not working atall. Keep trying to speak to Dell - they're supposed to be ringing me back  Any ideas as to what's happened?
Please ........

Sounds like the drive mechanism has stopped working..
Try pushing the drive in by hand, also flip the lappy over and make sure a Transit screw isnt left in place.. its a screw ot bit of plastic or clip that stops the drive
rattling when being delivered. You may have one.0 -
Sorry, I didn't explain that very well. The drawer opens and closes fine, but when I put a disc in nothing happens. The drive doesn't seem to know there's a disc in thereSome people see the glass half full, others see the glass half empty - the enlightened are simply grateful to have a glass0
