So, this is what it was all about, Boffer having a tantrum because their lameness caught up with them :rotfl:Boffer Rest In Peace.
You may remember some time ago we ran a spoof product called a USB fornication optimiser. 22,000 of you boffered it. Most of you when it finally dawned on you it was a spoof loved our quirky and fun sense of humour. LOOK HERE
Even the Register gave us a mention. Clicky
Four of you objected that the promotion was misleading because it was not made clear that the products didn’t exist (DOH) and decided to report us to the Advertising Standards Authority. Three of you decided that that the freebie made fun of people who couldn’t have children and they went ahead and reported us to the ADVERTISING STANDARDS AUTHORITY.
The ADVERTISING STANDARDS AUTHORITY has now published their findings and unfortunately we feel we are going to have to tone down our descriptions and make boffer more politically correct...
Over the next few days we will be implementing a lot of changes on the site.- Our descriptions will no longer be fun. Please see today’s boffer for an example of future descriptions.
- We will no longer have funny pictures.
- I will no longer be able to talk of girl’s night outs and tell you about Katie wanting to Shag Rick Astley when she was !!!!ed.
- We are going to have to close or at least heavily censor the forum.
- We are putting our prices up so we don’t annoy other retailers who claim we are too cheap.
- The next sell off will probably be the last one!! Goodbye bag of crap <weep>
I suppose we had a good run but all good runs must come to an end.
All the best
Lauren x

It's a marketing ploy. I've just wasted another few minutes of my life falling for their "marketing".
The RIP is meant to show that they lost their humour because the ASA ruled against them. But if you waste your time reading the adjudication you will see that the ASA actually ruled in Boffers favour so Boffer is actually carrying on as before and the RIP was just to drum up publicity.0 -

Oh how I wish they were going under, but like others have said it is probably one of their lame marketing ploys.
Boffer Also Known As, 24Gone, SVP, BigPockets, ATMT and probably a few other names they want to hide behind. They stink and deserve to be wiped off the internet.0 -
I have always found SVP to be OK.Going_Digital wrote: »Oh how I wish they were going under, but like others have said it is probably one of their lame marketing ploys.
