I'm not quite sure about what these companies are called but I mean companies like
affiliatefuture and affiliate window
I'm looking to list my site on one of these but the start up fee is £4000 plus £500 a month!
does anyone know of any other sites like these (where you pay commission to affililates) but with cheaper costs?
affiliate future was £500 plus £70 a month i think

how about running your own independant affiliate program.. no support though and you would have to seek publishers0

I went through this 'fun' a couple of years ago whilst I was still working for a company... My advice:
1. Then, Affiliate Future seemed to be way ahead of the game in terms of serving small businesses. They were quoting £500 set up at the time which included a day's training on how their systems work, etc. I'd have thought in a recession this ought to be negotiable.
2. Tradedoubler asked for a £10k set up, which to my mind is money for old rope. They were clearly more interested in corporates and could barely be bothered to return my call. Indeed, that may have been 'F Off pricing' - the gesture wasn't lost on me.
3. Affiliate Window were keen to sell, but had a reputation for being a bit past it in terms of their quality of affiliate.
Commission Junction seem to be the most innovative, but how good their UK take-up has been on the affiliate side, I don't know.
Some general advice:
1. The key with all of these is how up-to-date and relevant their affiliate networks are and how active - 65,000 affiliates is all well and good but if none of them have been active for 5 years it is a dead network. Worth noting as well, that a small % of affiliates account for the majority of the trade last time I looked into it, so you want the network which brings in the right affiliates.
2. Also, a good network should be able to give you advice on what the right incentives look like - i.e. what is going to be attractive to an affiliate and make them sign up for your scheme. Ultimately, if they are confident that your product and offer to affiliates is going to be a winner, they should not be worried about cashing in at the start with a set up fee beyond cost-covering because they're going to make with every sale anyway.
3. Ask to see their merchant areas beforehand so you can satisfy yourself that you are happy with their tracking systems.
Alternatively, ditch the networks and talk to half a dozen sites which you feel could push you a lot of traffic and do it yourself directly in terms of negotiations, e.g. a top ranking furniture shop or interior design site, etc. Then invest in a developer with that money for your own bespoke scheme to suit you - shouldn't be too much coding.
Phew, I need a cup of tea now...0 -
Yeh, I sell mirrors in case anyone missed it. I could be affiliated with mydeco.com, they want about 15% commission but they charge if you have any other affialites and miss your targets
I'm looking for an affiliate that doesn't charge a monthly fee, is that even possible?
I'll go and look at affliate future again and see what the deal is, last time I got a quote was about 1 year ago0
