We got made a proper board and new contributers kindly pointed out to me I couldn't spell and by inference wasn't worthy of the board
I'm not sure whether I got the pip or whether pressure of Christmas socialising etc meant was easier not to get sucked into ages spent here, but probably a bit of both
.
I'm back. (And was pretty sure nobody had noticed, lol)0 -

Plus, as im sure you are fully aware, the market for 750k + properties isnt as depressed as some would make out. Its the 150k-300k market that has been hammered.
I was enjoying some sensible posts in this thread until the usual, bitter, depressing tosspots got typing.
Good luck.
Higher prices are suffering worse IMO.0 -
Its always been a slower market, and of course each area of the u.k is different, but what we have found is that the more expensive properties still have similar stats compared to the last 3-5 years. Of course in Pembrokeshire a million pound property is way above the norm and in london i guess a comparable price may be 10mill.
But relatively speaking its by no way the worst hit part of the market.0 -
I'm noticing more properties in the south entering the market below 1 million that, IMO, would have entered above summer 2008. More that would have been between in th 750k-1 million mark IMO is a bit sticky, but the 750k is to half mil is a lot of downward movement I'm seeing. The property I was looking at when I first stumbled in here appears, as I was warned, laughable.0

Hmmm. Always like a challenge. Let's see will it be bad...or.. really bad. My guess would be catastrophic.Darth_Marty wrote: »Maisie dont listen to these idiotic depressing woe is me type of posters, you are 100% correct in that not a single one of us knows what the market will be like in 12 months let alone 5 years.0 -
Hi, LIR; nice to see you back. Take no notice of the spelling police.
As you know, I shall be looking for something with land, possibly in Darth Marty's area, but I'm not fully decided on that one. The sort of house I'd like is currently around £500k+, which is a bit steep, but there are certainly places which have drifted down by £50k during 2008, so in a year or so I can imagine my target will be achievable.
At the moment I'm holing-up in one of the properties I was competing with last summer, which didn't drop in price & didn't sell. It's a posher address - a cul-de-sac of detached houses, all of them occupied by elderly couples peering from behind net curtains! - but having partially moved-in, I can see why it stayed unsold. I reckon there's £40k worth of work just to bring it up to modern standards. That would have put it close to £400k and out of the range of typical 'hard-working families,' in these parts, anyway.0 -
Pembrokeshire did have a boom, didn't it, a chum's family sold their farm in wee lots to capitalise on it. Lovely, lovely indeed, but not for me.
Good luck, and I'm so glad your sale went through!
Spelling police don't really bother me, I used to be one of 'em and empathise with their frustration, but it just got to me that day I guess. In truth noone is made grumpier by it than me, but not much I can do, I've already got lots better than was predicted. I'm hopefully having a scan in the summer to see what its all looking like inside the skull.0 -
I was really shocked by the guy's attack on you, didn't know what to say or do. Glad you're back, and hopefully that particularly @sshole has gone. Unfortunately there are plenty more...lostinrates wrote: »Spelling police don't really bother me...0 -

Hi LIR   . Don't worry about the spelling/para/grammarrr police. It's the werewolves you've got to be wary of.
How long are you going to rent for Dave? oh and BTW what are atentuates?0 -
I have noticed it is the larger more expensive properties which are slashing the prices to get interest (and still not budging) whilst the cheaper more affordable ones (typical first time buyer fare) are having less reductions and selling more.
Oh and welcome back LIR, nice to have you back.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0
