Train Tickets - Open Return
Options
Hello Guys!
I have a quick question i hope none of you mind answering for me please. With a Open Return Ticket they say "Any Route Permitted". So does that mean i can get off at a station and meet my work colleagues and then get on another train with them to continue to my destination?
Thank you!

Firstly, there is no ticket called an Open Return anymore - do you mean an 'Anytime' ticket?
Generally, the answer is yes. Although it has nothing to do with the route permitted.

yes as long as said station doesnt have barriers?!0

Even if it's got barriers you are entitled to be let through them.0

'Breaks of journey' are technically only allowed on the return part of the journey. Not leaving the station and getting on the next train is likely to be considered a 'connection' so should be ok. Even at barriers they're likely to let you through if you explain, but be aware that they don't have to. On the return journey you can do it as much as you like.
'Any Route Permitted' is to show the actual path you can take. For example, open tickets from Liverpool to London are valid the 'normal' route via the Trent Valley into Euston, but also via Birmingham into both Euston and Marylebone, and also via Reading and into Paddington.0 -

Incorrect.
Check the link I provided.Break of journey
You may start, break and resume, or end your journey at any intermediate station along the route of travel.0 -

Not so - this was the rule with savers and supersavers - but they haven't existed for a while
With the new ticket types break of journey is usually allowed in both directions on anytime and off peak tickets but totally forbidden on advance tickets.0 -

Oops! Thanks for correcting me.
But can either of you explain the change in Ts&Cs for the new First Anytime tickets? By that I mean the old '1st open' was valid for a month in both directions but the outward portion of the new one is now restricted to the day printed on the ticket.0 -

It's to prevent multiple use of that outward ticket during the month should it not be stamped or collected on the first journey. A partial deterrent was having to produce the unused return portion if you weren't travelling on the day of issue - but evidently that wasn't enough.0
