I was about to say I hope he gets himself where the door is in the 'helicopter' rather than the window but I think they'd likely have to take turns in both positions maybe.
Off upstairs to ask if he'd considered going swimming before hand as a wee practice.........:rotfl:Herman - MP for all!

I love the way us parents worry and the kids just go off and get on with it.

We all have to pass through the stages......personally I'm looking forward to the 'I'm so old I don't give a !!!!!! about anything other than finding my false teeth' stage.:rotfl:Herman - MP for all!

:rotfl: I don't know WHAT you're accusing me of here, but I'm going to move you to the Employment board anyway because I think we've got some off-shore workers who may see this thread over there, off-shore work and families not ALWAYS going too well together, IYSWIM.And can I buy a book about it?
(Dont really want a book but thought it might make Savvy Sue leave my thread alone since I've got a financially related question in there. :rotfl: )
I do hope you didn't go and look at all those photos. They would scare me rigid.
MOVING THREADS FOR BETTER RESPONSES
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email !!!!!!.
PS, get your books from the Library, don't BUY them! :money:Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
My OH did the exact course in Aberdeen. He can't swim for toffee either! If you are an unsure swimmer they make you wear a different coloured hat, so the divers know you aren't a strong swimmer.
The helicopter turns upside down, you take off your seatbelt and swim out the window (I think) My OH passed and he can't even work the can opener.
I'm sure your son will do great and he'll be safe!0 -
I hate to ask this question, but does this mean you have to wear a different coloured hat all the time you're on the rig too, just in case?Buttonmoons wrote: »My OH did the exact course in Aberdeen. At least me asking means aliasojo doesn't have to. And shows her that her line of thinking is ENTIRELY reasonable! :rotfl:Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Well OH currently works onshore, but I don't think so. It's pretty unlikely you'd fall off the rig in the first place and if you did, I don't think it matters how strong a swimmer you are! Just float on your back

I do know that when newstarts errr start on the rigs, they ALL wear different coloured hats so people are aware they are newbies.0 -
