Cheaper to book direct with Haven or Sun £9.50 holidays?

We have booked the sun £9.50 holidays the past 2 years and was going to do the same again however I have not received my priority booking form.
However last year we went to a Haven Camp and upgraded to a Superior 3 bedroom caravan but I cant remember the cost of the upgrade.
I have been on the Haven site direct and can get the same caravan for my 3 night weekend break for £119 (which they state is a half price deal with a saving of £119)
So my question will it be cheaper to book through Haven directly or through the sun as by the time I pay the £38 holiday then service charge of 17.97 entertainment passes 22.00 and linen of £10 my total cost if £87.97 before I upgrade.
On our first Sun holiday we took the basic van and it really was a nightmare, very old and shabby.
Thanks in advance for any advice

It depends really. We've been on a Sun holiday before and we didn't realise at the time, but we could have just booked through the company and had a better caravan. I've had a look this time and because I would like school holiday period time it would actually be cheaper to go via the Sun. It might be worth you comparing the Sun holiday with upgrading (don't know how much that is though) and your costing. Also have a look at the dates you've put down school holidays may be more expensive via Haven than the Sun- I would do a costing for the various dates you would choose. If you can get better direct then you might as well.0

I have phoned Haven and they cant tell me the upgrade costs for a Sun Holiday???
I think I will be best just to go direct with the park as it is out of school holidays - a weekend in September.0 -

I will be saving as I have easter week for a family of 7 which costs about £300 with haven going direct. I think if you are going out of term time then you may well get a good deal, mid week is always good value IMHO compared to weekends.Debt free and plan on staying that way!!!!0

i booked via online because it worked out being cheaper, but it does depend on when u want etc,
Though the sun it was going to cost me more than booking online with haven, and i got a upgraded caravan, bedding, gas/elec, passes all in.0 -
I have 3 haven holidays booked this year. The first would have been 50p cheaper with the sun but for a worse van. The second is in August and is the cheapest I could find on any site. The third would have been £6.50 dearer with the sun and again it would have been a lower end caravan.
All in all considering you don't have a choice of parks, or dates and only the standard vans I would book direct every time.Loving the dtd thread. x0 -

I need them to have good indoor pools ....
any recommendations welcome...
i went to mabblethorpe last year and it was fine - but would like some other recommendations as well please

like others have said it all depends on what time of year you are planning on going, we are going to the haven in caister for 4 nights may bank holiday week, with the sun it is £96(inc insurance), booking direct with haven for the same accomodation worked out at £327:eek:, and that was with a supposed saving of £69, so we have saved £236 by booking with the sun:j, just depends when you are going, DaveTake every day as it comes!!0

i have booked direct with Butlins only cost £65 half board for me and my son, the same weekend would have cost about £140 with the sun they wanted £10 per head for half board per day............. lucky i used my maths0

hi all
well i have booked direct with haven as i decided that we could only do certain dates, and did not want to travel too far.
It's cost us about £30 more than booking though the sun - but i have upgraded to the best accommodtion you can get with a dog standard plus, rather than the chalet we would have probably got with the sun, and also they only had 3 bed caravan's left which my mum and dad can come over and stay for a night or two...
but i feel i have at least learnt something which is that the sun offer is definately worth doing when the kids are older and we can't go in term time..
