Firewall

I downloaded Windows SP2 with windows firewall on it. I then deleted EZ firewall because it was not always allowing me to access sites saying cookies are not enabled. Since I deleted EZ it has been fine.

My query is windows firewall alright to use on its own or do I need to add another firewall?

  • Windows firewall (both the original and the SP2 version) are not too well thought of.

You may want to try ZoneAlarm firewall, which a lot of people here use. Once you hvae ZA installed, you should turn off the XP firewall.

I could not get Zone Alarm to download, so I tried Sygate which did download but would not let access any web pages, so I uninstalled it and am now just using Windows Firewall but on start-up it always says there is no firewall, but on checking the Control Panel windows firewall, the box is always ticked as ON. There is not an firewall icon on the taskbar, should there be one there? So I'm not sure if it is working properly.
