Its the local County court to you. Google your town and county court to see what comes up. And when you get through to them, check they are the right ones. My court actually asked for my address so they could check for me.

Did you make an appointment(s)??? Its probably better to do it sooner rather than later. Its likely to be really busy and you could end up waiting a longer time than that in a few weeks.

And its only an appointment. If you and OH are just not ready, then phone and cancel.

Wow. The forms are the easy bit. Its convincing your OH, as from the sounds of things he is not so sure. I know this is a public forum and a bit personal (to tell me to bog off, or just ignore me - plenty do!) but do you think that perhaps he is holding on to the business to take his mind of other things? I am just going by what my OH is like and with every else going on I know how he would be reacting.

Brilliant - you are doing the right thing....... if it comes round too soon then ring and cancel.

Ask as many questions as you need - I did and when it came to the day, I was really well prepared and it went without a hitch...

I too can be ignored, but I have to say that's a very quick turn-around. There's a lot to organise, and as Skylight says, there's also the coming-to-terms-with-it bit to deal with. I think Billy and I took about 2 months from making the decision to actually turning up at court, and I wasn't aware of twiddling my thumbs during that period. Even if you're 100% sure you want (and will be able) to stay in your home, maybe booking an appointment for one month hence might be a bit kinder to both of you? Unless you're someone who's got all her bank statements and accounts at her fingertips, that is.

Sorry - just realised the above might look a bit discouraging. Wasn't meant to be at all. Everyone has to go at their own pace, I'm just one of life's snails.

skylight - yes OH's answer to everything is to work hard! Obviously we have both been worried sick about my daughter but he works to keep his mind off the worry.
LilyBart - no you are not being discouraging at all, I understand what you mean. I think we will have a look at the forms tomorrow and see what we think. If we have any doubts then we will postpone appointment.

    Thank you all.

Regarding the equity in your property, the OR has 3 years to deal with this and can do nothing for the first year. You also need to be up to date with mortgage payments so they don't take reposession proceedings

Thinking of your and your daughter at this time, it must be tough for you all.
