Just use a free one, Avast/AVG etc.. Same applies to firewalls..

Mcafee also misses viruses, they all do.. AV companies react after the event.

Dat and superdat updates are available from nai.com. It is not true that Mcafee verification applies to all products..

Ah I had no idea. I looked on the Kerio site only a few weeks back and they were still hosting it.

v4.2.2 is still free and you can download it. Anything newer is developed by Sunbelt. I have v4.2.2, and meant that version (ie from Kerio) is no longer in development. Didn't realise Sunbelt had taken over it. I'm sticking with v4.2.2 for now, I can't see any critical reason to upgrade.

mcafee like norton will slow your pc.

In my view the best 2 av programmes are avg and nod32 - that's a personal choice. The free version of avg can be downloaded here

it is every bit as good as the pro version on virus detection and removal - all you cant do is scheduling and stuff like that which is no major advantage.

for a firewall I would go with zone alarm which also has a free version
