Following on from the thread 'what's your total credit limit' what ratio are your credit limits to earnings? At 32k credit limit mine is about double my earnings & I have had a couple of rejections recently

Just over 100%.0

my credit limit is about 150% of salary
So tough getting new credit at the moment, will have to get the egg 0% anniversary out of the way before I can apply for new cards.0 -
Unless my maths is wrong:
Income £12K Credit limit £29,450 = 245% approx0 -
I currently have the equivalent of 99% of my salary in total credit. Until I closed two cards last week, it was 133%. A year ago today, it was only 15% of my salary when I only had an egg. By increasing the limit on my egg and taking out a number of other cards I've gradually built up my total available credit and so far had no rejections. ;DCider Country Solar PV generator: 3.7kWp Enfinity system on unshaded SE (-36deg azimuth) & 45deg roof0

Between us myself and hubby have over twice our combined income available on credit cards, although it not all utilised. We are currently sitting on our hands for a few months, and cancelling a couple of cards each, to be able to access new deals.0

Which cards did u cancel?
Hubby and I both cancelled our Capital One's. Didn't expect them to offer us any deal, but in a few months we hope to be able to get accepted for new cards offering deals at the time.0 -
Am mortified!
Just been rejected for a credit card for first time in life on the grounds that I have too much credit compared to my salary! (though might have something to do with the almost £50K I have out on 0% deals at the mo..!). The letter says I can write to them if I have any other info. I'd like them to consider. Does anyone know if I would be successful if I simply wrote and said I agree with what they say but I have plenty of savings and therefore able to pay off the debt, plus all the 0% money is in savings accounts and not spent? I don't really want this credit card except it is giving a freebie that I would like so I don't really mind if they just give me a £250 credit limit. Has anyone tried this approach and if so how did it go?
