Relocation Insurance Cover

Hi,

Wonder if anyone can help, if there's any expats out there?! My partner & I are moving to Norway in a few weeks & his Company are paying for all our furniture to be shipped over. The shipping Company won't provide their own insurance because we're using a Company that normally only deals with shipping business goods. Does anyone know of any insurance companies that can provide cover for a one way shipment out of here to there? It's going by boat all the way. I've had a nosey around but all I end up finding is Companies that do the entire package ie: removal, storage & insurance, none so far do just insurance.

Thanks in advance for any helpful knowledge.

  • I've still been trying to look for any help on this one... I've emailed a couple of places for quotes & never received responses so I take the assumption they didn't do relocation insurance. Is anyone able to pass any names my way?
  • I'm told Letton Percival do this sort of thing, and also www.centor.co.uk. who were suggested by our shippers.

That's as far as I've got so far (we're off to NZ in March) am waiting for some friends to come back to us with suggestions.

    Good luck with your move!

You need to speak to an insurance broker that is a "Marine Specialist" or Marine Broker they are normally based in London.

They will normaly cover the items from dock to dock usually providing they are profesionally packed. They will probably want to know if the items will be in their own container, whether the container will be in the hold or on deck, the name of the shipping company and the name of the docks.

Its not cheap expect to pay between £500 and £1500 depending on the type of contents you are shipping and the value

    Hope this helps
