Hi
I was wondering if anyone out there had any advice on ways to make my clothes a bit more individual without spending a fortune. I have never sewn in my life but I like to have quite an individual style and obviously don't have a fortune to spend! Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

hey, i dont have that much money to spend on clothes either, so i tend to express my individual style by wearing bright scarfs and hats
i also add little scarfs to my bags to make new straps, and also add badges, ribbons, bows and corsages. you can also attach these to you tops and jackets to make them look different to everyone elses.
another way to look individual is to buy your clothes from car boot sales, as you wont see many people wearing the stuff you have bought there. and the best bit is when people ask where you got it from and how much you paid they will be envious as they probably wont be able to get there hands on one.making your own slogan t-shirts is good as well, because you can write whatever you want to express yourself
jewelery is another good thing to add to your individual style as you can make your own pretty cheap. all you need is some thin ribbon and some beads of you choice
ouch ouch i just bit my tongue as i was writing this  :rotfl: haha.
i hope i have helped you in the slightest.BEST WINS - beyonce tickets, lfwe tickets, maybelline calendar and makeup, pair of legally blonde tickets x 3, tickets for valentine's day premiere, breakfast at tiffany's dvd, jaeger handbag and purse, sony digital radio, paul's boutique bag set.

Hi
Wow, there's some great ideas there - I hadn't thought of badges, corsages etc, or car boot sales! At present I do pretty much all of my clothes shopping on ebay. When you say about making your own slogan t-shirts - how would you do that? Fabric paint? If so, can you recommend a good brand?
Thanks, you've helped a lot! :T0 -
http://www.craftster.org/ is an online forum with lots of people making clothes and alike, and i'd imagine you'll be able to get advice on how to do stuff as well as design ideas. Be warned its apparently an addictive hobbie.
Also don't write off charity shops for cheaper clothing, although this works better for women than men, due to the greater range women seem to donate.0 -
Great forum - thanks!0

have a play on the Old Style Board too - they have lots of very clever people at crafts over there!:happyhear0

i can't really recommend any good fabric paints or pens, but i am sure if you go in an artshop they will help you. or i suppose you could find those iron on things to put on your clothes
you can also design them on websites and they can make them for you.
like whitfreak said, charity shops are sometimes good. personally, i dont really buy clothes from chairty shops that much, as yes i know the money goes to charity but they are rather expensive. well where i live anyway.
ohhh and if you buy clothes from primark, make sure you try and customize it as you know you will see everyone wearing it sooner or later. i bought a snakeskin-esque bag today, and i have tied my little skull scarf (had it for years and use it for everything) into a bow onto one of the sides. im also going to attach a few corsages later.BEST WINS - beyonce tickets, lfwe tickets, maybelline calendar and makeup, pair of legally blonde tickets x 3, tickets for valentine's day premiere, breakfast at tiffany's dvd, jaeger handbag and purse, sony digital radio, paul's boutique bag set.
