Frickin Egg Card....

Hi Guys

I'm a bit of a newbie, well a regular in the DFW boards, but just wanted some advice...

I had an egg card, and was one of the people they sent a letter to - stating that they didn't want me anymore as a customer once my balanced was cleared (I had a direct debit set up for minimum payment, and they weren't making that much money out of me - not a huge balance and no charges)

Anyway, in July I consolidated all cards with a loan ( ... i know... but it's done) and paid off the egg card. In August I paid a final interest payment, which needed to be worked out.

I was still getting emails that I have a new statement. I then rang up in November to be told I still owed them 13pence so that's why my account hadn't been closed. I laughed a bit and the guy said they'd clear that for me.

Then this month I get another email telling me my statement is ready?!!? I logged in to see a zero balance... but they still haven't shut my account...

I wouldn't mind but it obviously shows as £1,500 limit that I have available to use on my credit file... and what really annoys me is they didn't want my frickin custom but won't close the account.

Has anyone got any tips?? I held on a 'helpline' (use that term loosely) for 20 mins yest at work, seemed like an hour!!!

I just want it closed now!

Help!?! :o

Secure message a formal complaint to them?
  • I secure messaged them the other day - but I can't find my note from who I spoke to in November :o (I'm normally so good at writing stuff down when I speak to people!) But its clear I did as they zero'd the balance.

It says they respond in 5 days - so they have til Thursday. I didn't realise I could secure message a formal complaint... that will definitely be the next option.

Do I have any rights I can 'spout' at them??.. I like sounding like I know what I'm talking about! ;)

Y/B = the poster above your last post#3. it was my attempt at humour hope you don't mind lol...:D
  • I would call them and query this £1500 is availible credit.. is this actually showing on your credit file at the moment?

IIRC Egg will leave your online account open even if you have closed the card. As i said though, it would be advisable to query Egg on the matter rather than this board.

Hi Supercharge - thanks for your comments - however I had asked them to do this about 3 times, and was starting to wonder what their game was... hence asking for advice and if anyone else had had a similar problem ...

They have responded now. So all sorted.

    Thanks guys.
