You beat me to it Leonie
I was also going to say Lush contains SLS (and maybe SLES, not sure) Also, becareful of some baby shampoos. They are sometimes actually harsher than 'adult' shampoos - I certainly wouldn't want them in my eyes. I can't judge the Boots one referred to above as I haven't seen it.
I use Aveda shampure - I have an incredibly sensitive scalp, so use the shampure conditioner as well. It cost £24 per Litre last time I bought some, but that was 12 months ago and I still have loads left. I have long hair too - usually shampooed every 2-3 days. So, on an overall cost per shampoo, I think Aveda's cheap, because you only need to use such a little bit.0 -
Glad you agree with me Ticklemouse :j
They are a very fair company as they give full ingredient listings and certainly dont try and hide anything, yet people still say their stuff is naturalI only have to walk in and the smell is overpowering.... dont get me wrong, I love the smell, I just get worried that people think they are going for a natural choice, when in fact they are using sls etc. My friend used to work there and she said that all the soaps came from the same base (containing sls, not cold process as natural soapmakers do) and they just add other ingredients.
To me, natural soap is the stuff I and others make, using just oils and lye, then adding nice things like honey etc. I dont need it to smell nice or be coloured a bright colour, its all done by adding yet more additives.
One of my favourite things is using nettle juice on my hair in the summer. It clarifies and moisturises, leaving my hair shiney and soft, a real treat and its free!
Lol i'll stand down from my soapbox now0 -
After reading the posts about the lush shampoo bars yesterday i went to town and baught a lump of it,i nearly choked when she said £5.20 please as i picked up the smallest lump that was there.Ive never spent that much on shampoo in my life so im hoping its good. Not sure which one it was but its called tricho mania or something like that.0

trichomania is lovely. it lasts for ages too. it's solid shampoo rather than a shampoo bar. the shampoo bars are a regular round shape.0

how do people get dreadlocks then, I thought that was from no washing your hair0

Incidently, whilst i was browsing on the Tesco website yesterday, i looked through the list of ingredients listed in different bottles of shampoo and bars of soap. Not all of them are listed, but of the ones that are, i found there was less ingredients/additives listed in the soaps than in the shampoos. Not that i am convinced mind.:oThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

They do shampoo jellies which you can also use on your hair. the lush bars are little round things like soap - if you buy two buys you get a little free tin to keep them in. You just lather them up in your hand and put on your head, the first time i used one i was thinking that there wouldn't be many bubbles so put on loads - i couldn't be seen under the bubbles that were produced!!!
The soaps there are great as well, i like the fact they are all made from natural ingredients, so if you are trying to get away from preservatives and things they're great.
we used to use the lush shampoo bar with rassoul mud BUT i found it gave me horrible dandruff! dh has eczema and it made him very itchy and gave him dandruff too, shame as i quite like the idea and it does last for ages
i eventually just used the bar as a sort of exfoliator, with the mud in it it's slightly rough and it works very well for this purposefounder of Frugal Genius UK (Yahoo Groups)0 -
I pretty much have to use Johnson's Baby shampoo, because I get really bad eczema and my head bleeds if I try anything different..
but I use olive oil on the ends before I wash it (sometimes I leave it in over night and that is brilliant), and it makes your hair smell yummy!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. From a moneysaving point of view, the solid shampoos are definitely the way to go even though they are expensive. The bars (and some of the softer solid shampoos) have a looser texture and get used up at about the same rate as normal shampoo in my experience.
I spent over £5 on a big lump of Hard (Lush's hard water shampoo) ages ago and it's not even half finished. I would definitely have spent more than £5 on bottled shampoo by now. Of course like most people I probably use too much liquid shampoo anyway which doesn't help...0
