This may depend on weather the father has had any "contact" with the child in the last 2 years.
If he has done as much as send a B'Day card or gifts at Christmas that is classed as contact. (In the last two years)
I had to offer to promise that my children would spend at least 2 months in the UK after we had moved and thankfully he agreed. But it was a long LEGAL battleEbay 13........1583.46/2000.00 Amazon sales 54/50 Etsy sales 63/50

Might be worth contacting the AWS who most probably have information regarding these questions:

Having been on the receiving end of kids being taken away to Germany illegally, the Army made no checks that they were being taken there legally. They paid for them to be taken!
If the non-resident parent doesn't have Parental Responsibility (PR) they don't have rights. This can be the case if the father was not married to the mother at the time of the birth and didn't subsequently marry her.Mortgage Free thanks to ill-health retirement0 -
My ex partners child was taken by his mother to live in germany, she had married a serviceman 6 weeks after meeting him.
His father had Parental Responsibility for him and the Army refused to tell the fathers solicitor where the boy was, even which base he was at nor would they confirm what arrangements had been made for his education.
The only recourse available was for his father to approach the court and the court requested the information, she then objected, saying it would be far too difficult to return the child for any form of contact and the father would not be allowed to the base to see his child.
The child was only returned when the marriage broke down 9 months later there then followed a year long legal fight to re-establish contact via a contact centre ( where previously there had been no need for any such measures but mum insisted this had to be the case) and finally Dad was awarded days out then overnight contact.
So no, its not the case that the army will check and if they are informed its unlikely they will do anything to assist the fatherDFW £10923 (nov2014)0
