Second rate print

I have noticed that when looking at the posts in these forums the print is not uniform. It looks a bit like the print you would see if someone had typed a document on a typewriter with an old ribbon. All I can remember is that, at the beginning, when I first got this laptop, I found it hard to read so I may have changed a setting somewhere. I have just had a look and it doesn't seem to be the case. Any ideas please?

I assume you don't actually mean ~print~, but the appearance of text on screen?

If the characters on the display don't look uniform, the most likely cause is that your screen resolution is not the same as the "native resolution" of the LCD display. If set correctly it should display one pixel per LCD display "cell".

If it's a reasonably high-resolution display, the native resolution is often 1280x1024, though if it's widescreen then it will probably be something like 1024x768.

Once that's set correctly, if you then find that the icons and text are too small or large, you can change that with the Advanced, DPI settings.
