Please help-problems with british gas/powergen

Moved into my flat in Feb 2008, the previous seller was with eon and I am now with eon- I have always been with eon

I receved a bill from british gas saying that they own the pipes and eon never transferred over the pipes properly therefore I shoud get a rfund from eon and pay british gas with this money.

I will be recivieng my refund soon and british gas updated their payments from feb 2008 to present when I moved in- there is a short fall of 100 that the refund doesn't cover.

Bcause of the shortfall british gas have arranged for me to pay the shortfall over the next 12 months (included in my direct debit). I informed them that I shouldn't have to pay this shortfall as it wasn't my fault that the pipes weren't transferred properly and eon have admitted blame to this.

I wanted to know how do I seek getting the shortfall money? Via eon or british gas? Eon did tell me that it should be british gas supplying the shortfall when I spoke with them originally.

Is there any law I should be aware of or any agency that I can complain to if eon refuse me the shortfall?

Your post doesn't actually make sense as National Grid (formly Transco) own the pipes, meters and infrastructure that supplies the gas. British Gas and others are the gas suppliers who charge you for the gas that is supplied through this network.

What I can gather from your post you moved into a new property and the previous occupant said that Eon supplied their gas. You then signed up with Eon without double checking that your meter was actually on their database.

British Gas have now contacted you, said they are actually your gas supplier and Eon had been giving out untruthful information.

Eon has now refunded you but you have discovered that British Gas charge more for gas.

Unfortunately as British Gas is your supplier you have to pay them the £100 you owe them. Once you have done this you can change over to a more truthful supply.

I suggest if you have a problem you should contact Eon asking for the money. Do it in writing making sure you have a copy* and if you have no joy then contact the Energy ombudsman:

*This is so there is no confusion over who said what as companies tend to lie.
