Users of the latest iTunes V 6.02 should be aware of the recent row over “abuse of user privacy.” It relates to iTunes sending data back to apple without your consent and or knowledge via the “mini store feature”

Turn off the mini store and nothing is sent.
Apple should have told people about it. Spybot picks it up when I ran a scan.
What is funny though is all the Apple fanatics defending this, but if any other company did the same they'll be crying about it.0 -

Yes, Apple should have told people about it - and I think virtually every Mac website has said as much. But be fair: I think Apple didn't tell people about it because they wrongly thought it was so blindingly obvious that details of the currently selected track were being sent to iTMS for relatively innocent purposes that users didn't need to be warned. And at least Apple has now made it clear that no data was ever being kept and the mini-store is now opt-in.
IMO part of Apple's naivete springs from the fact that spyware and malware simply aren't issues for Mac users. Given that, I don't think it's fair to say that 'Apple fanatics' would 'cry' if any other company did this, without backing up your argument with examples. Because in my experience, Mac users simply aren't bothered. So do supply them0 -
