Sorry BGs, I know this shouldn't really be here, but I think people need to see it and take action where necessary.
Catz and I have just found out entirely by chance that the Noize Makes Enemies website - http://noizemakesenemies.ning.com/ - is showing some people's personal information - including email addresses, telephone numbers and postal addresses to anyone who looks at your profile on the site.
I registered for the site to enter competitions they were running after one was posted here and I know other MSErs have done the same - I recognise a few names on there and have PMed some people.
It's possible to delete your phone number and postal address, but I can't see a way of making the profiles private and there are things like marital status and sexual orientation that can't be removed from your profile. For that reason I've deleted my profile from the site and my details are no longer viewable.
Please, if you have registered for the Noize Makes Enemies website check what information's in your profile and make sure that anything you have entered you are happy to be freely available to anyone, and if not take action.
Soozy
Thanks for this Soozy & Catz, I'll try & get it into the Guide somewhere so that in future people may still realise that they may run up against this problem!
Edit: OK it's in with the 'sites that may generate spam' list under Posting Competitions so hopefully when someone posts they will check there first & see the warning linking back to Soozy's postSad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out0 -

Texting sounds like a good idea, I haven't done any text entries at all lately.Luck is believing you’re lucky – Tennessee Williams

i text all the tab, chat, thats life, full house etc comps in & send the ef's in
plus enter online with them, have had loads of winners from them so don't understand how they work it out that you're only supposed to enter once :rotfl: just seen my name in the full house & have won £400 :j

Oh well done you, I used to do the TAB, Chat and That's Life in the mags religously every week for years. In all that time I won £50. Better than a slap in the face but I lost the inclination for entering. Then I stumbled into MSE and haven't looked back.Luck is believing you’re lucky – Tennessee Williams

When the host offers a question to the viewing audience at home, you may text GAME + A, B, C or D to 84644, or call 09012 931000.
Entries by SMS will receive an acknowledgement SMS message. Cost of entry by SMS is £1 plus a standard network user charge for 1 message.
Entries by telephone on a BT landline cost £1 per minute and should take no longer than 1 minute. Call costs from other networks or mobiles may be higher.
The Viewer Game will close shortly prior to the end of the TV show. The end time for the game will be clearly specified by the host and an on-screen graphic. Any entries received after this time including during repeat shows will not be entered but may still be charged.
The winner will be chosen at random from all correct entries the same evening.
Players must be 16 years or over. The Viewer Game competition does not run on repeats of the show.0 -
You could post this in the Phone and Text thread, it's another 'sticky' on the comps board, it doesn't seem to be on there yet.Luck is believing you’re lucky – Tennessee Williams
