This is a scam and has nothing to do with the National Lottery. Just think about it , how can you win a lottery if you haven't entered it? If you do reply you will find that you will have to either send them some money as a "processing fee" or they will want all the details of your bank account. Stay away from it.

In similar scams people have parted with thousands of pounds because they had though they had won nearly a million pounds. It has been featured on Watchdog.

It's gotta be a scam - I'll take a chance and charge 0% so good luck.
Why not email or phone him?

Learn from the mistakes of others - you won't live long enough to make them all yourself.
  • I get those emails all the times, last week it was the lottery in france, prior to that it was amsterdam.
i just report it as spam mail
i did once ring the number from a call box, and someone who could not speak english very well answered.
today i got email reportedly from natwest audit department saying the usual stuff, i forwarded it on to natwest.

it makes me cross sometimes to think of all the silly people who have been taken in by these scams

There was that one woman on Watchdog who had paid out over £40,000 , on the promise of a win of £750,000.

The giveaway (as if such an obvious scam needed one) - UK 070 telephone numbers are designated by Ofcom as 'personal' numbers. Why would a supposedly genuine organisation allegedly based in Liverpool have 070 numbers and not ordinary 0151 numbers?

Answer: If you call them (assuming the numbers actually exist), the calls cost 49p per minute and they'll make money from you while they keep you on hold.

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
