ASET course with Open Study College?

I've been looking at doing a home study course, and openstudycollege.com offers the one I'm after (beauty therapy http://www.openstudycollege.com/courses/aset-beauty.html), but I haven't been able to find any detailed reviews about them or their courses. Has anyone done a course with them?
Is the ASET accreditation they offer widely recognised? I've spoken to a customer adviser and was told after February their beauty therapy course would switch to NCFE. Are there any differences between ASET/NCFE and is the latter any better? Any advice greatly appreciated!

Doing practical courses by distance learning is never a good idea. Would you, for instance, want to have a beauty treatment done by someone whose only experience was TWO DAYS work in a salon?
I'd ring round local beauty salons and ask whether they'd consider employing someone whose done a course like this; I'd be very surprised if they say they would. Make sure you tell them it's a distance learning course.
Apply some common sense to the situation and see what courses are available at your local college; depending on what qualifications you already have, they may actually be free.0 -
I am currently studying computer science at university, so going to college at the same time isn't really an option, which is why I'm after a self study course to do whenever I have some spare time. I'm not looking to become a beauty therapist (not right now anyway) but it's certainly one of my interests and having a recognised qualification helps to keep my options open.
This is my reason for wanting to find out whether open study college is reputable and whether ASET/NCFE are recognised in the industry, since I don't have any experience with vocational programmes. I can always ring up a local salon after I've completed the home study course and ask if they offer any work experience; they probably won't say no to free help

Would you want to employ someone with a degree in computer science who'd never actually seen a computer?0
