BG trying to stiff me!
When we first moved into our house we were with BG for about 3 weeks for electricity. They mucked up the first bill as they failed to get the correct start reading. They tried to charge us for 1000kw/h instead of about 1. We weren't actually living in the house at the time as it was a repossession and needed work. We switched providers and as far as we knew everything was settled and paid off BG for the electricity we had actually used.
Fast forward 9 months and there are nasty letters from a collection agency which are now addressed to the occupiers inferring they will take *us* to court over this unpaid debt which belongs to the people that lived here before. They have been sending letters to the previous people and I have been marking them return to sender. They still took no notice so I just binned them instead as clearly they were too stupid to understand 'moved away' and 'not at this address' and too stupid to check the electoral roll!
What is the best thing to do now? As it is BG and dealing with them is like trying to get sense out of a !!!!!! baboon I am loathe to do much as it usually ends up dragging you into a maelstrom of morons. I have fired off a complaint on their website telling them the debt is nothing to do with us and that I don't appreciate being harassed for money I don't owe.
Is there anything else I should do or am I better just ignoring these clowns until they go away?
