Cheap Ways To Get A New Gas Connection? Please Help!!!
Hi,
Trying to get a new gas connection to my house as it only has electricity and have been told national grid are unable to do the work as it's out of their 'normal work' so have had a quote from fulcrum for £8,198!!! Alot more than we were expecting, when speaking to fulcrum they said this is because the mains is so far from the house, but there is one directly in front of my house going to the neighbours house, but fulcrum said that they would need to get everyone's permission to cross their land which would then cost me more than £8,000??? It just doesn't make sense that there's a gas connection infront of my house but they wont use it.
Is this right? or can i get a cheaper connection some other way??
Really desperate as it;s freezing in the house and need central heating!!
Thanks

Can you obtain permission from all your neighbours and landowners yourself? If you could get a solicitor to do this then tell fulcrum you have permission then you'll only have the cost of the actual installation not the faffing around.
Alternatively investigate electric heating - there are some new modern radiators that will be just as efficient as gas.
Also worth pricing up how much an LPG/CNG tank and installation would be instead of mains gas.0 -
Forget gas and install an air source heat pump, see the 'other fuels' forum, I think you will be pleasantly surprised.0
