When I bought my Dell Dimension 5150,Home Edition I have added the audigy advanced sound blaster for £17+. I still do not know whether I needed this and I could have done without. The PC came with a software and now when I log in, it's asking me whether I want to register it. Please what is this, CS said it will improve the sound if I listen to music or watch DVD and I do neither. I am just curious to know so that next time I will know what to do. Also if I want a better keyboard and mouse, do I have to install again, do keyboard and mouse come with software. Sorry for such a silly question. Thanks

If you don't listen to music, watch DVDs or play games on your PC then no, you definitely don't need a fancy sound card like soundblaster audigy.
If you want a new keyboard and mouse you can go ahead and do that. Most stuff you can just plug in and it works with windows XP, although some fancy keyboards will come with some software that you will need to install, although this should be very straighforward.

The sound card for £17 will give a better sound than just onboard sound.
I would of spent the money myself.

Plus it'll save your CPU doing some work as it'll deal with some of the processing. Probably wouldn't be noticeable though.
Still for £17, that's not a bad price for the upgrade, although if you're not going to use it then maybe not."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0
