Am I correct in thinking that both DLA and Incapacity befefit are not means tested?
Only asking becaue I have just come into a small inheritance and my nephew thinks that I will lose my benefits.
Please help put my mind at rest.

Yes you're correct. Definitely about DLA (even if you worked and earned a million a year you'd still be able to get it), and I'm pretty sure about IB too, I'm on it's predecessor SDA and that's not means tested. And if it's only a small inheritance it might not affect means tested benefits (IS, JSA, HB and Council Tax benefit).Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

Neither DLA nor IB are means tested. For ultimate reassurance you could call the Benefits Enquiry Line on 0800 882 200.Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 The Joy Account: £10 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0

If you have £16000 or mre IB is affected. DLA is not affected no matter what your income or savings. If my typing is pants or I seem partcuarly blunt, please excuse me, it physically hurts to type. :wall: If I seem a bit random and don't make a lot of sense, it may have something to do with the voice recognition software that I'm using!0

Wrong.
You can have a million pounds and still claim IB there are no limits.
Not sure if it is the same for the new ESA.
The only things that effect IB are pensions.
Maybe you are thinking of IS.

DLA isnt in anyway means tested, however I/B - ESA is dependant on N.I.cont.in the relevant 2 years prior to a claim0

You can get two types of ESA contribution based and income based.

DLA/AA is not means tested. They are not contributions based, They are not taxable.
If you save up your DLA for a rainy day though and then later go and apply for a means tested benefit, your heap of DLA is classed as savings (cos it is) and can afect the means tested benefit0
