Redundant in Nov 08

Hi, first post but long time browser of MSE...

Made redundant Nov 08 but I knew it was coming anyway and not wanting to miss out on a large payoff having been at the same company for 12 years, I took the decision to take the axe. I've been looking for jobs prior to me leaving for good but there just isn't much out there especially in the Midlands for telecomms.

Oh and to add to my stress my partner's recently given birth to our beautiful daughter!

Good luck to anyone else in a similar situation, at least I have a good year worth of redundancy money to live on in case I can't find a job.

But it would be nicer if you got a job and that became a nice little nest egg or went some way to paying debts!

Thanks, yes it would be nice to save my redundancy, thankfully we've no debts other than our car loans and we're renting privately and the rent is quite low too so we shouldn't be too bad.
