Barclaycard Card Protection

Folks,

At the end of last year I applied for a Barclaycard credit card and was sucessful, I phoned up and activated it and was offered their card protection policy which I repeatedly declined despite their attempts to scare me into taking it.

Several weeks later (last friday) I received the introduction pack to the card protection and I immediately phoned up and told them I had not requested this but they said as I was out of the cooling off period they could not refund me the £30. Strange how the welcome pack only appeared after the cooling off period had expired.

According to them this went through on the 25th of december.

After wasting an hour today on the phone being transferred from department to department it turns out I have to write to them and request that the £30 is refunded.

Surely this is illegal??

Apparently there is no Barclays complaints number to phone so ive got to waste more time writing to them.

Obviously I will be writing to them but im absolutely fuming about this, what else can I do? :mad:

Report them to the FSA - they tried to screw me last year for a mistake they made. I cancelled and eventually got through to a supervisor who did it. I told them I had raised a complaint with the FSA but it got sorted before I needed to take it further. Good luck!

P.S. Went with the Halifax protection after that fiasco!
