If you play games you need to spend a little more than £400. You need some sort of dedicated graphics.

Looks quite a nice lap top (although I disslike HP due to their Virgin media standard of customer service, but thats just me)

All depends what you are comfortable with and what and where you are using it

If you are carrying it around, a big laptop may be uncomfortable for example, but then a netbook screen size may be to small for you

I have a large laptop at home (17" widescreen one) that does not leave the house, I use it instead of a desktop. But I also have a netbook I have just bought, and to be honest, I love it. Acer Aspire One, 1gb RAM, 120gb HD 8.9" display and running full windows XP. I travel to work on the train now (after deciding to live car-less), and this is ideal, just whip it out of my bag, pluy my earphones in and away I go. Only downside YOU may find is there is no CD drive, instead it has 2 SD card slots. If you want to do college work on it, word/Excel/powerpoint etc, internet (the AAO is wireless), listen to music, then I can recommend this machine for that. If you decide later that you want it for gaming, then this will not be much use

Just have a think before you buy so you don't get the wrong thing

    Those that dont

i thought a laptop would be better than a netbook, as i like the sims, and someone said there is no disc drive on a netbook?? is that right??
and also, i would only really be carrying the laptop when going to a class at college, so not too often
    xx

If its for the sims i suggest you buy a laptop that specifications lower than whats required to play that horrid game. Doing as I suggest may save many hours of your REAL life.
  • If its the original sims game you play you'll be ok with an integrated graphics chip. If its sims 2 or you are thinking of getting sims 3 when it's released, then it'll struggle without a dedicated graphics card. (I know lots of people do play Sims 2 on laptops, but there is so much difference when you can have all your settings up on high and no lag etc).
I got a great lappy for my DD from Dell outlet for £373 delivered which will easily handle Sims 2 and 3. They have an offer on for £55 off and free delivery at the moment (until the 15th I think).
Well I can't stand by the side
And watch this life pass me by

    Just want to be...Happy
