new teeth while going bankrupt??

sorry if this has been seen on other post but it didnt get many replies so thought would start new thread with it.
after speaking to a different agency from CCCS last friday, this one advised bankruptcy and has arranged for a solicitor to call at 2pm today. but need question answering before i speak to him. to cut long story short my nhs dentist has done all she can with teeth falling out due to medication and said if latest attempt did not work i may need to get work done privately which would cost about £3000. well saturday night the crown she put to replace front tooth fell out so may have to pay for implants or some such thing. trouble is i was going to cash in a cash isa i had which when i last looked was worth about £3000 and some shares from the 80's - 90's which were worth about £2000. what i am worried about is if i start ball rolling this morning to cash these in for dental work knowing that i am going to start bankruptcy at same time?

hhhmm tricky one as will it be classed as essential work or cosmetic to the OR??
i think seen as its caused by medication it should be seen as essential but thats my opinon. i think you may to ask a higher power about that as it may be seen as disposing of assets if you get a grumpy OR
not much help sorry

What medication is causing your teeth to fall out?
I can't think of any that have this side-effect. If your teeth are falling out due to it, is everybody absolutely sure that the success of implants won't be affected by it?
I assume from what you've written that it's only going to be a single implant, which means that you'll have quite a lot of your own teeth still. Will these not be affected by your medication? What would happen if more fell out?
If things are unstable at the moment, probably a (cheaper) denture might be the best treatment until things settle down.
Sorry this is nothing to do with how it all fits into the bankruptcy - but whatever your financial state, the treatment you receive should be appropriate to the dental problem rather than your finances. How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
My teeth "fell/pulled out" due to stomach acid from ulcers. I now have some lovely dentures all done on the NHS. A far cheaper option as they can be added to if/when the need arises.DxFree impartial debt advice available from: National Debtline - Tel: 0808 808 4000 | The Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) - Tel: 0800 138 1111 | Find your local Citizens Advice Bureau

thanks everyone, my back causes me so much pain that i am on really strong doses of morphine in tablet form, then when have break through pain (their name for it) i need to top myself up on liquid morphine. the liquid stuff i was on initially and was quite sweet and this is what the dentist thought was causing the rapid tooth decy but the hospital have said its the first time they have heard of it. now that i am having so many problems the dentist feels all she is doing is patching me up with plasters only for the same problem with same tooth crops up couple of weeks later. she says she has never witnessed such rapid decay. she took x-ray of one particular tooth and it looked fine. four weeks later it fell out and the whole of the inside of the tooth was like crumbling chalk. so far i have had one pulled out that they could just do nothing with no matter what they tried. have had 4 root canal fillings. 2 crowns and 4 teeth just literally fall out, no apple eating or stuck on toffee, just fell out. that was why i was asking about money as dentist has just done last thing she can think of possible on 2 front teeth, one at top and one on bottom, on the nhs and if that didnt work she said i would have to have work done privately meaning implants at the front and would need to get front four done at same time so they would match, but i guess that now sounds cosmetic. well last estimate for that was about £3,000 and with money the way it was i just said before christmas well do what you can and we will see what happens. well since jan 1st bottom one been killing me as nerve exposed so had to have 2 lots of anti biotics which i finished last monday and then last thursday the front one which she turned into a crown type of thing fell out and i am now left with big hole in the front, not very nice. well anyway am awaiting hospital referral about back teeth as no amount of aneasthetic but will be seeing her on tuesady and was going to say well what the hell i will sell my tacker isa and have the next stuff done private if it will make any difference but like you said the implants might fall out as well as like i said she said there was no more that could be done on nhs. that is why i asked how will that look if i start proceedings of selling isa monday morning and then talk to the solicitor that the debt people have set me up with on monday afternoon to start process of bankruptcy as agency recommended????? maybe i should see what she recommends tomorrow have asked her three times now to take the dam lot out and have dentures but shes very against it saying how difficult they are to get used to and how she would like to try and hang on to the ones that are healthy, but how long will it be nefore they are no longer healthy either?0

There are times when a denture is a perfectly correct treatment, and from that, it sounds like it might be the right thing for you at the moment.
Is your dentist quite young? Sometimes a lack of experience makes dentists feel then should be all 'modern' and pushing very technical treatment plans, without really considering the 'bigger picture'How to find a dentist.

i would say she is in her early 30's but has been adamant from the beginning that dentures were not the way to go0 -

She has the advantage of actually seeing your mouth, which I haven't.
But it isn't right to be planning such advanced treatment in an unstabalized mouth. If she's referring you out somewhere for these implants, then I would hope that the dentist she refers you to would tell you that anyway.
If it's 4 implants she thinks you need, you're not going to get that for £3000. I would just be cautious here, and don't be afraid to get a second opinion. How to find a dentist.

If you have £3000 in a cash ISA plus £2000 worth of shares, won't these be taken off you as assets if you go bankrupt?0

yes that is what the question is that could she use them on having her teeth done, and how much trouble would she get in would it be seen as disposing of assets for cosmetic treatment or essential treatment. If you want to see the rainbow ,you gotta put up with some rain0
