I feel VERY honoured to have a mention in your opening thread Wol! Thank you. I think you supported me as much as the other way around.
Chuffing heck about the stuffing builders (insert you own swear words here). That is absolute mens jangly bits about cockeralling it up that much 20k holy smoley.
As far as going forward is concerned well where do you start really. I wonder if it is worth talking to your mortgage provider to see if they can put a rocket up your insurance company.... I mean they have an interest in the property after all.
Ref the vino, it will be spring soon. Put an add on freecycle for some demi johns and start making your own wine!! All you have to buy is the sugar and yeast elderflower is well nice and is dandelion. When I was young my mum made them all the time as she had zero money.
Other than that living off the freezer etc is doable challenge yourself to how long you can go before buying more than veg and milk a week......
I saw a REALLY pretty guinea pig today, it was sort of pale orange on the head and tail. Really sweet. And as soon as I saw it I said
"week weeek" to them and thought of you LOL !
cheers
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

Hi Chev
Happy New year - how is it going in kiwi land? Hopefully you are settling in and now feel you have a home rather than just a house? (It took until a raucous New Year party for me to actually start thinking of my house as a real home again even though I moved back in August).
Thanks for the suggestions. The mortgage company is aware as I had to get the £40k drawn down (lucky I have offset mortgage) Ref the insurance company - it's actally not their fault - it's the loss adjusters they appointed as their agents. The insurance company appear to be just as frustrated as I am but their hands are tied and they can't even respond to the complaint I made about the slow progress by the loss adjusters until the loss adjusters themselves have responded first - and guess what - they're taking their time....again! QED - but at least it proves my case!
I have found that the legal stuff is very complicated.
My contract is with the insurance company to reinstate my house to its previous standard so it is them I have to take issue with even though the fault may be one of their nominated agents (loss adjusters, damage limitation and strip out teams, property companies etc), hence the complaint to them.
Then, to make matters worse, even though the insurance pay the builders and my surveyor for the work and my landlord while I was in rented accomodation, I am the legal signee on all those contracts so if the insurance (or rather their agents the loss adjusters) didn;t pay up either on time or never, I could be taken to court and I then have to take the insurance to court to recover costs.....it's all been pretty hairy ....as court (and eviction from my rented accommodation) have been threatened twice already because of late or delayed payments.....
Good idea about making the wine myself - however I'm not sure the piggies would approve of me using their dandelions......might have to find an alternative
Will check back on your thread tonight and see how you're doing...
Hugs to you Hun
Love
Wol2
