    Well done. One step forward.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
  • I've now received a letter from my bank, the co-op, stating that they are going to close my cashminder account due to improper use. There have been a few of times where direct debits have failed to go out due to lack of funds and I've had to cover a charge on each of these occasions. They can see that my wages are paid in each month. I will need to speak to them monday. Has anyone heard of this happening with the co-op before?

  • They have agreed to keep the account open but have removed the use of direct debit and standard orders. I ill be looking to open another account elsewhere. Does anybody recommend a basic account?

    Hi

You really need some debt advice, but in the mean time concentrate on the mortgage, council tax, utilities and food. If your attatchment of earnings goes through it will be a killer, its a flat % taken from your wages which would be crippling I do the payroll for work and it works out so much higher than if you can get an agreement from the council.

    Good luck

Adtrader.co.uk - for kids clothes, loads on there and really cheap as will.

Also in regards to food shopping buy all the Value items like Tesco value for example (I've found there value items are always r.good quality) instead of brand names if you're not already, it would seriously cut the food bill down including things like toilet kitchen roll etc. The savings add up.
  • I have just applied for a basic Halifax account, so hopefully I'll be able to start afresh with that one.
My water is high because I missed a couple of payments at the begining of the year. Hopefully that will go down soon. I've signed and sent the form back to the mortgage company so hopefull the change to interest only will take place shortly.
I've requested the court accept my voluntarly repayment offer for the attachment of earnings and am waiting to hear back from that. I'm no further forward with the charging order and feel that they will end up having a charging order put on the house.
The other priority debt I'm having real toruble with is British Gas because they don't seem interested in helping me pay off the debt at all. I've offered £50 for each account at the end of this month and then requested that we come to a payment plan arrangement and they have refused to enter into discussion about a payment plan with me.

    Whats the grocrey challenge?

As always your help and advice is greatly appreciated!!

A monthly challenge where you set a target for groceries. The idea is to try and lower it a bit each month until you find a reasonable level ie I have gone from 400 to 250/300 a month. Its up to you if pet food, cleaning products, toiletries are included. I include all including takeaways other have separate budgets. Its a really friendly thread and loads of good recipes and support. Many DFW's are on there.
