travel insurance for pre-existing illness?

i am going to LA next week and will be travelling to spain with son later on in year. for the last few years i have got an annual multi trip family insurance with free spirit. but now there is only nearly 18 yr old and me and wondered if perhaps anyone on here has found an mse special they can recommend. my illness is my back but am not awaiting any investigations about it and my operation was in 2004, so nothing new, think they class it as back surgery???? anyone found someone better???
