if it is fine now why not get another free years motoring out of it
To be honest, when it "failed" it's MOT, it's kinda knocked my confidence with it.
Click here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.

All information given by myself is offered informally and without prejudice - if in doubt seek help from a qualified and insured professional
  • there is no guarantee a new car at 1000-00 is going to be a better car than the one you already have
what are you thinking of replacing it with
and dont forget the guy who did your mot said your car is fine for another 12000 miles
remember it is nice to be important
but more important to be nice ;)

But they saw you coming, so why believe anything that they told you? You now have a car with 12 months MOT so drive it, not change it!

I'm going to be buying a new (old but new to me) car at the end of February and i'm deciding whether or not to PX my current car or to try and sell it privately.

Parkers gives me a valuation of:
    Original Priced£13,315 purplehelppopup.gif Independent Dealer£1,725 purplehelppopup.gif Private Good £1,350 purplehelppopup.gif Private Poor £455 purplehelppopup.gif Part Exchange£865 purplehelppopup.gif

Its a 306 1.8L XS (AC) 2000(W). Parkers price is assuming 80k but mines done 88k.

Really my question is if I was to take it in PX do you think i'd be able to get anywhere near the £1000 mark? The car i'd be buying would be about £6500 so i'm hoping to get it for £5500. Does this sound possible?

Also, when people go to buy a car do you try and haggle with main dealers or is that best left for private sales?
This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

Probably not but then again depends how desperate they are to shift the other one. More chance if yours looks neat and tidy. Go to the vauxhall website and use the glass's guide that is on there and get a more accurate valuation but even then treat that with caution.

Just had a quick look £725 - £945 is goimg rate apparently. So if you get offered anything over +/- £800 you are probably doing ok.

Keep the Vectra! No matter how desperate you think the trader is to deal, and no matter how the deal is dressed up, the real value, your difference to change cars, will realistically see the dealer giving you £100 for the car.
