Will Section 75 Apply?

in Credit cards
Hi All,
I am about to buy a second-hand car from a dealership and want to know my rights before I buy. Essentially I am planning to buy the car on a credit card (for around £4000), and will pay this off straight away as I have the money in the bank. The reason I want to do this is in case anything goes wrong with the vehicle after purchasing and I need to return it - would Section 75 apply in this case, bearing in mind that the item isn't 'new'?
Many thanks,
Ruth

Not as much as a good warranty would help you.
If you think that you can rely on section 75 every time something small goes wrong with your car - you will be disappointed.0 -
lol i was thinking the same....
i bought one today for £250 on my cc lol!!!!
no mot thou....
wonder if it fails i can take it back?????0 -
If it was sold "as seen" then you don't have a chance!0

Exactly. If the vehicle - in either case - is "as described", then you have no claim under section 75.0

Many thanks to you who have posted.
Interestingly, I put a deposit down on the car yesterday (on my credit card), and let the Mazda dealership know that I have the cash to pay off the balance; they were desperately trying to persuade me to pay it off via direct debit (and, I later found out, to charge me for doing so!) Having refused this 'opportunity', I will be paying off the balance of the car in full later this week.
Again, many thanks for your helpful advice.0
