New tart :)

I am a newbie to the tarting game and need some advice about timing - hope you can help!

I got a Halifax 0% One card last August and the 0% deal is up at the end of May 2009. I have approx £3k outstanding balance being paid off at a rate of £250 per month. When would you advise applying for a new card e.g. the 14 month Barclaycard deal that Martin is currently recommending? I want the balance transfer to go through in time before my 0% runs out.

Many thanks :)

I think if you apply at the start of April you will give yourself enough time for the application process and for the transfer to go through.
  • Check the terms of the new card and see how long you have from account opening to get the 0%. Some cards are for any balances transferred in the first 60 days / 90 days etc. Then decide when to apply - bear in mind there can be a delay in getting your application processed if it's a popular card.. which it probably will be if Martin's highlighting it!
