My NEW Laptop keeps shutting down..HELP!

Hi everyone. Can anyone help? I have a brand new Acer Aspire 5535 lap top that shuts down at random intervals, (not sleeping or hibernating). There is nothing I can do to retrieve it unless I shut it down completely, and reboot.
I have 'googled' the problem, and I see there are others out there with the same problem. Can anyone offer me a solution.. I am not at all 'techy' so please be gentle with me.
Thanks in anticipation.

Yes, it just goes instantly to a dark grey screen. Not black, like it is when it is switched off. And there is no set time pattern. Should I go back to P.C. World where I bought it from?

Same thing is happening to mine, bought it 2 weeks ago it was fine until i bought a wireless router, now it crashes when the wireless is switched on. I'm taking it back to pc world in the morning.
  • Biggest mistake yous made was buying anything from PC world. I wouldn't go near the place get your cash back and buy online would be my advice.

  • I got mine from Tesco and it does exactly the same thing, only I cant find the receipt. Does anyone know if a credit card bill will be accepted.
Or better still does anyone know why it does what it does and how to fix it?
Its not overheating, and is totally random.
I think I am going slightly mad.....
  • I bought my Dell desktop from PC world, 2 years ago and it's still going :)

I would also agree take the laptop back, either get another make or get your money
    back.

Took mine back to pc world today, they done a quick check by running the wifi on internet explorer, they said it appeared to be ok, it never crashed. They did say my machine looked like it had problem but it was working fine & to bring it back if it happened again.
Got home & connected to the net, guess what, the laptop crashed strait away with the newcastle united shirt across the screen. Went back to pc world for a refund. Reading on the net it appears to be a common fault.

sounds like another faulty batch of components problem...various makes and models from advent to sony have suffered from such issues in the past, where defective capacitors on the mobo have caused such intermittent shut-downs....stick to your guns and get a refund...
