Problem with a refund

Hi apologies for not knowing where exactly to post this so feel free to move it if needs be.

I bought 2 games from play.com in november and they arrived too late to be of use, so they agreed that we could send them back unopened.
We sent them back on 27/11 and have proof of posting (incase they got lost in the post).

Phoned Play up last week as still had no refund and they wanted to know if we had sent them recorded. We hadnt (didnt see a reason to at the time tbh :/ ) but it seems if we had they could have refunded us straight away but as we didnt we would have to wait until the packages had all been sorted through which is fair enough- they just couldnt give us any kind of estimate on how long it would take.
It has been over 6 weeks since we sent it though anyone know how long we should wait because we still dont know if they have received the items and in which case if they havent will chase up royal mail .

thanks for any answers

when sending things back for a refund, always send recorded delivery, even special delivery. a proof of postage is not proof of delivery, but a signature can be traced.

if it was just as exchange, then i believe play send a sticky label with every order to post back on.

sorry, your probably not going to get joy from them, they will ignore you unles you have proof.

  • If something is only sent by Royal Mail with a proof of posting, then if the recipient is claiming to not have received the goods, your only recourse is to claim for a loss with Royal Mail.

Sent via normal 1st class post , without additional compensation cover you are limited to a maximum claim of 100 x the price of a 1st class stamp, so ummm *racks brains* £36?

If you search for loss or compensation on the royal mail site, you will find all the information on how to progress a claim.
