problem streaming with wmp11 to xbox360

Okay bit of a starnge annoying issue.

When trying to stream from PC using WMP11 the xbox can see the pc and the videos that are on the pc, when i try and play a video it comes up with a message that it cant find the video. At this point WMP11 on the pc says it has encountered a problem and needs is looking for a soloution and then restarts. When i go through the xbox again it can still see the pc but cant find any files on it.

When i go into WMP11 settings it says media sharing is off, when i go to network centre and turn media sharing off and apply settings it turns off. If i then go back into WMP11 sharing is again turned off despite just reseting to on.

WMP11 will also have an error when trying to play any video direct from the PC.

I have tried acessing and making changes as administator.

WMP11 worked fine the last time i used it.

All very frustrating with a 3 year old whos climbing the walls to watch his favourite program on a rainy afternoon

I'm no expert. But my issues where solved for running video from pc to xbox by turning off the firewall, have you given that a try?

As a quick workaround copy file to usb stick if you have one and plug it into xbox usb slot and play from there!

Not a fix but i would recommend tversity, supports a bigger range of file formats and very simple to setup

Yeah ive tried that, thanks for the suggestion though

Thanks, ive tried this before and liked the program but i had issues with it similar to what im having with WMP11. It would say sharing hadnt started and wouldnt start despite having all the settings correct, so i reverted nack to WMP11 and have used it without any issues for the last 8+ months
