macgyver you have hit the same problem I always do with recorded delivery and the reason why I bang on about it being worthless when people on the ebay board suggest using it for everything.

I agree, recorded delivery isn't worth the paper it's printed on.0 -
how do you prove something has turned up if it's not sent recorded?

If it is very important then special delivery is the only real service available.
