My MIL uses a product called FAT HAIR. She buys it off a shopping channel and it has improved the look of her hair. If I am correct this product is a cosmetic alternative.ie it does not help the scalp or make hair grow thicker but gives the impression of fuller hair.

I know a trichologist and have done quite a bit of research on this myself...

A shampoo with ketoconazole is the 1st defense (eg nizoral or revita)
The 2nd is minoxidil topical (brand name is rogain in the US) but just use a generic off ebay
The 3rd and biggest decision is finasteride 1mg/day or dutasteride 0.5mg per day but many take it every 4 days due to its effectiveness and long half life.
All are FDA approved although Dut is not yet approved for hair loss and in trials.
Fin and Dut are mainly used to treat prostate enlargement, and have a side effect of unblocking the hormone that starves the hair follicles (DHT).
Taken in lower doses (too low for treating the prostate), they still do the trick on the hair.
Most people in the UK get their fin/dut generic from indian pharmacys online eg; www.inhousepharmacy.com
Read all about the treatments at www.hairlosstalk.com
Feeling nervous about it all? See a doctor in a big boots who will prescribe you finasteride 1mg (procerin), but as moneysavers i would buy generic proscar finasteride 5mg (the stuff for the prostate) and use is pill splitter to make 1mg tabs.

Plenty of hair but it's thin? Try jason thin to thick or lock stock & barrel.
