Oh, maybe it was just Bank of Scotland (see above link). But isn't that the same as RBS? Anyway, i applied for the card on this link and that's "owned" by the same place as i have my current card with (Halifax One), i think.

    I'm confused. :easter:

Bank of Scotland is HBOS, same as Halifax NOT RBS.

So yes looks like you won't be able to transfer a balance from Halifax One. Unlucky.

No links allowed in sigs unless pre approved, say goodbye to it coz it will be gone in 5-4-3......................
  • I kinda feel that you should be thinking more along the lines of NOT taking out a credit card, and NOT taking a holiday if you cannot really afford it..... Sorry if you don't like that response, but you are just putting yourself into debt by doing this...

Why not save for six months and THEN book the holiday. No credit. No debt. No hassles!!!

Its not so much about people not being able to afford holidays but if you pay for one on your credit card your better protected by ABTA and ATOL.

It doesn't increase your existing protection, but gives you additional protection, over and above ABTA and ATOL.

There's nothing wrong with simply paying the deposit by credit card (in order to secure section 75 proection on the full holiday cost, not just that which is paid for by credit card), and then paying the balance by debit card/cheque etc. Perhaps that's what 'Cheeky Minx' meant?
  • As a golden rule, even if you have the money, pay any product over £100 with a credit card as it gives you full protection.

Then when the bill comes in, pay it in full and it hasn't cosr you a penny!
  • It's existing customers only!

Try MBNA exclusive platinum only available via moneysupermarket, it's the way ahead with 12 months 0% on purchases.

Only 6 months BT on it so remember NOT to use it for them.

Could I just double check something please? I paid a deposit on my holiday by credit card and am thinking of paying the remainder by cheque so that I don't have to pay the credit card fee.

From the posts I've read it does suggest your whole holiday cost is covered even if you only pay the deposit using the credit card. Is this correct? I just want to be really sure that I'm completely covered as I did not book a package holiday.

If it's better to pay the remainder of the holiday off on the credit card also, I would be prepared to do that if needed and just except the 2.5% charge on it..

If it doesn't matter then I am planning on writing a cheque..
    The deposit was over £100...

This is absolutely correct, no need to pay the whole lot by Credit Card, you are still fully protected.

    Enjoy your hols
